Bridging the Literacy Gap: How Principal Ramsey-Bryant and EPS Learning Empower Students

Principal Thelma Ramsey-Bryant's efforts to tackle literacy gaps at John L. Costley Middle School in East Orange, New Jersey, highlight a critical challenge faced by many educators—helping students develop essential reading skills in a way that feels age-appropriate and engaging. As she focuses on fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary, Ramsey-Bryant's innovative approach demonstrates the importance of making foundational literacy work relevant for middle schoolers. However, the road to reading success isn’t without its hurdles, and many students struggle with confidence and behavioral issues tied to their academic challenges.
