Join literacy leaders and educators from across Iowa for a half-day professional learning experience focused on helping students move beyond decoding toward stronger vocabulary, comprehension, and meaning-making.
Grounded in current Science of Reading research, this session positions morphology as foundational to literacy development—not something to introduce later. Drawing on insights from Dr. Reid Lyon and other leading experts, participants will explore how early morphology instruction strengthens vocabulary, comprehension, spelling, and overall reading success. Attendees will leave with practical, ready-to-use strategies to deepen word meaning, build word consciousness, and accelerate literacy outcomes. When students understand how words carry meaning, they gain greater access to language, comprehension, and confident reading.
The session will also include an overview of EPS Learning and how the SPIRE Literacy Suite supports all learners across every stage of literacy development.
