Georgia & the Science of Reading
From Dyslexia to Securing Early Literacy Gains in Georgia
With EPS Learning’s science of reading-aligned solutions, every student in Georgia, including those with dyslexia, can become successful readers!

Built for the Realities of Georgia Classrooms
Georgia educators are being asked to do more. They screen every K–3 student for characteristics of dyslexia, train in the science of reading, and close persistent reading gaps, often with less time and more students in the room. EPS Learning solutions are built for those realities, delivering structured literacy that works the way Georgia classrooms actually run.
Less Planning, More Teaching
Soft-scripted lessons take the heavy lift off teachers, cutting prep time so educators spend less time planning and more time delivering instruction that moves the needle.
Implementation That Fits the School Day
Designed for real Georgia schedules, including tight middle-school block schedules. Focused, manageable sessions let schools deliver structured literacy intervention without overhauling the day.
Teacher-Directed, Not Tech-Dependent
Every lesson is teacher-led and grounded in the science of reading and Orton-Gillingham methodology. Instruction stays human-driven with minimal screen time, while supporting Tier II, Tier III, special education, and dyslexia intervention.
Aligned to Georgia's Early Literacy Act
Georgia's Early Literacy Act requires K–3 screening for characteristics of dyslexia and reading proficiency. Many of our solutions correlate to the new Georgia ELA standards and provide the structured, evidence-based intervention students need once those needs are identified.
"Reading Assistant has been a valuable tool for both our universal reading screening and targeted reading intervention. Throughout the school year, we saw meaningful student growth, with the percentage of students identified in the “Catch Up” category decreasing from 29% at the beginning of the year to 22% at the end of the year. We appreciate EPS Learning's commitment to partnering with districts to improve literacy outcomes and are grateful for the support they have provided to Brooks County Schools."
—Staci Chastain, Director of PreK and K-5 Curriculum, Brooks County School District, Georgia

Questions Georgia Districts Are Asking
-
The Science of Reading is the body of research on how students learn to read, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. EPS Learning delivers this through structured literacy: explicit, systematic, teacher-directed instruction across all five pillars. Programs like SPIRE 4th Edition and SPIRE Up give Georgia teachers a research-based path from foundational decoding to comprehension.
-
Many Georgia middle school students arrive still working on phonics and decoding, and they need intervention that respects their age. Reading Accelerator is built for exactly these older striving readers, closing foundational literacy gaps with targeted, age-appropriate reading remediation that helps students catch up quickly. Because it meets students where they are without feeling like a program made for younger children, it keeps them engaged while they build the decoding and comprehension skills they missed.
-
Strong writing grows from the same structured literacy foundation as strong reading, with explicit instruction that connects decoding to encoding. SPIRE Up builds these skills directly into every lesson through sentence writing, sentence dictation, and explicit grammar skills and tips, so students practice spelling, sentence construction, and written expression as part of their reading intervention. This gives Georgia teachers a systematic way to strengthen writing alongside phonics, decoding, and comprehension.
-
Time is tight in every Georgia classroom, so EPS Learning programs are built to fit real schedules. SPIRE Up, for example, delivers a complete intensive reading intervention lesson in about 30 minutes of teacher-directed instruction, with no 45 to 60 minute block required. Because lessons are semi-scripted, teachers spend their time teaching instead of planning.
-
EPS Learning offers a full suite of structured literacy programs aligned to the Science of Reading for Georgia schools. These include SPIRE 4th Edition and SPIRE Up for intensive, multisensory reading intervention, SPIRE Next for close reading and comprehension, Reading Accelerator for closing foundational literacy gaps, Megawords for multisyllabic decoding and spelling, and Wordly Wise 3000 for vocabulary. Together they help schools support readers at every stage, from early foundational skills through secondary intervention.
