Bentonville Schools faced persistent challenges in helping secondary dyslexia intervention students achieve lasting reading success. Despite modest gains in accuracy, many struggled with reading fluency, and few were able to exit their current program. That changed with the adoption of SPIRE—a structured, multisensory, Orton-Gillingham-based program grounded in the science of reading. Since implementation, the district has seen measurable improvements in both accuracy and rate, alongside a steady decline in the number of students requiring ongoing support—clear evidence of SPIRE’s lasting impact on literacy outcomes.
